Lewis University Nursing Students Assist at Clinic

Lewis University Nursing Workforce Diversity/HRSA Grant Scholars assisted on June 14. 2022 at the Bolingbrook Christian Health Center.
The Lewis University nursing students helped the charitable healthcare clinic for the uninsured with
** digitizing health records,
** organizing patient education handouts, and
** cleaning the physical therapy space.
The Bolingbrook Christian Health Center’s services include
** primary care
** women’s health
** lab tests
** physical therapy
** optometry
** substance abuse counseling
** health education, and more.
A member of the National Association of Free & Charitable clinics, today Bolingbrook Christian Health Center has 12 licensed medical providers and conducts thousands of patient visits annually.
A $2.1 million U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration Nursing Workforce Diversity grant funds a Lewis University scholarship program that addresses the needs of disadvantaged students in Cook, DuPage, and Will Counties in Illinois. The program helps to attract and retain a more diverse student population to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Daisy Sherry, MSN, Ph.D., associate professor of nursing and associate dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, serves as project director in collaboration with Tina Bobo, MS, DNP, RN, assistant professor of nursing and NWD/HRSA grant program coordinator.
